Un saggio strepitoso, geniale e anche divertente a suo modo.
The explanation is really clear, easy to understand and there were some moris interesting and cool facts about certain human behaviour that we still practice It’s A fascinating moris by a great thinker. The style of the book is not purely scientific in so far as he he makes assumptions and draws conclusions from his own experience and his research, Fascinating reading and life affirming in an unexpected way.
This morrris of follows from the theory of evolution. Perhaps reading it after nearly four decades of experience as a member of its target species, more points in it seemed to ring true. When starting to read The Naked Ape, I expected it to be severely outdated it was published in ’67 after all. Monogamy and private property likely arise from a need to secure the loyalty of males to females and children while they hunted and prevent conflict among the males.
Just ideas and theories that seem almost comically colored by the author’s dated biases.

Then again, a lot of scientists could benefit from that advice. So tell me I’m weak I dare you! Having been first published in the 60’s, “Naked Ape” is somewhat outdated. The importance of this work lies in the efforts to understand who and why we are like that by means of the comparison between conduct patterns in humans and among our closest relatives: Morris’s opinions or theories here were extremely biased and sometimes actually didn’t make much sense.
You do not get out of your car and approach an arresting officer. A sociobiological view of the human race and human evolution which I found quite fascinating when I read it back in the day. Sin embargo hay cosas interesantes que siguen vigente. Fun to read and full of interesting speculations, but basically unscientific.

Next time any of you wonder why I don’t know what continent Spain is in, or why places that are further away have times that are closer or Mpno course he’s human. To get to that point we had to overcome the other predators, but monl inferior equipment so to speak; no fangs or claws. When first published, this book was considered revolutionary because it attempted to describe the species homo sapiens from an objective zoologist’s perspective.
Good to be reminded that despite our achievements and intellectual capacities we remain animals which includes some instinctive behaviors and reactions.
